All the mundane things seem futile,
Now that you’re not here
And all I want is tea and hugs
And once again to hear
The ringing of your laughter
And your words so strong and true.
My heart is void and empty
Now I can’t be with you.
Thoughts drift in and out with memories
But I know what you would say-
Be grateful for the little things
And thankful for each day.
Cherish those around you
Don’t spare one ounce of love
And remember that forgiveness
Leads to eternal love.
Don’t live your life in anger,
Live your life in peace.
Make every day a special one
And before you go to sleep
Give praise to God for a world
Where love triumphs over all
Though hurtful deeds can challenge us
Have faith that you won’t fall.
Have faith and deep conviction
That God’s love is deep and true
And know that in your darkest hours
He’s always there with you.
These words have helped me through the years
For that was Janet’s gift.
She always knew just what to say
When my life had gone adrift.
I’ll miss her smile, her warmth, her joy
Her energy and passion.
She touched so many of our lives
With laughter and compassion.
